Job Description:
Peer Mediation And Skills Training (PMAST), a Calgary-based registered charity (CRA
863734158 RR0001), is seeking an experienced Grant Writer to help drive the growth and sustainability of our mission. The ideal candidate will be responsible for researching grant opportunities, writing compelling proposals, and managing the entire grant application process. Your work will directly fund programs aimed at empowering youth, including those at risk, by providing core skills in communication, conflict management, and anti-bullying solutions to youth, schools, families, and communities. By contributing to these efforts, you will help foster change and develop respectfully engaged citizens.

Grant Writer Responsibilities:
  • Understand the Organization: Study and become familiar with PMAST’s
    history, structure, objectives, programs, and financial needs to ensure
    accurate alignment with potential grant opportunities.
  • Research Opportunities: Conduct thorough research to identify relevant
    grant opportunities from government agencies, non-government
    organizations (NGOs), and corporations.
  • Write Proposals: Draft clear, compelling, and accurate grant proposals and
    supporting documents that effectively communicate the impact of PMAST’s
    programs and our funding needs to align with the funder’s priorities.
  • Submit for Approval: Submit draft proposals to the grant coordinator for
    review and approval prior to submission.
  • Address Inquiries: Respond to internal and external queries related to
    drafted and submitted proposals in a timely and professional manner.
  • Build and Maintain Relationships: Develop and maintain positive
    relationships with funders, stakeholders, and partners to foster continued
    support for PMAST’s mission.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain organized records of grant opportunities, submissions, and outcomes. Ensure timely submission of required reports to funders.


Grant Writer Requirements:

  • Research Skills: Proven ability to conduct in-depth research on potential
    funding opportunities and evaluate their alignment with the organization’s
    needs.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
    with the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in
    proposal content and submission requirements.
  • Self-Motivated and Goal-Oriented: Able to work independently and manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Experience in Grant Writing: Proven experience writing successful grant proposals, preferably in the nonprofit or charitable sector.
  • Knowledge of Funding Landscape: Familiarity with the nonprofit funding landscape, including government and private sector grants.
  • Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using digital tools for research, communication, and record-keeping.

Join Us as a Volunteer for The Great Alberta Adventure Charity Auction 2025!

Peer Mediation And Skills Training (PMAST) are excited to announce the 5th Annual Great Alberta Adventure Charity Auction, which will be held live online this July 2025. This event supports PMAST’s programs which empower youth, families and communities to manage conflict effectively for a life better lived! We are looking for passionate and dedicated volunteers to help make this event a success! All monies raised go towards our Birdies for Kids Campaign help in conjunction with the Rogers Charity Classic, the most successful PGA Championship Golf Tournament right here in Calgary.

We Need Volunteers for the Following Roles:
  • Procurement of Merchandise and Services: Help us gather exciting
    items, experiences, and services that will attract bids. This can include
    anything from local artwork and adventure packages to spa services,
    restaurant gift cards, and more!
  • Outreach and Networking: Assist in contacting businesses, artists, and
    service providers who might be interested in donating.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Help spread the word about the auction across
    social media, email campaigns, and community channels.
  • Event Coordination: Assist with the logistics of running the auction, ensuring everything goes smoothly during the live event.

When and How to Volunteer:
Volunteers will be needed starting February 1, 2025 leading up to going live in July 2025. There will be flexible, remote opportunities to contribute to the auction from the comfort of your home.

About PMAST:
Peer Mediation And Skills Training (PMAST) is a not-for-profit organization focused on equipping youth, families, and communities with the necessary skills to effectively manage conflict in various environments—at home, in school, at work, and in recreational settings.

Role Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to lead our Fundraising Team. As a Volunteer Fundraiser/Team Leader, you will work remotely (virtually) and for the most part can manage your hours around your schedule. This opportunity is ideal for those looking to gain experience, build networks, and enhance professional skills while contributing to a meaningful cause. A one-year commitment is requested.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate fundraising activities and events to raise funds and awareness for PMAST.
  • Identify new opportunities for fundraising and awareness campaigns.
  • Prepare and submit applications for funding.
  • Publicize events and initiatives to increase visibility and engagement.
  • Assist with processing and tracking donations in our donor database.
  • Thank and acknowledge donors and supporters.
  • Represent PMAST by giving talks and presentations to prospective donors and at community groups and schools.

Volunteer Fundraiser Requirements:

  • Proven experience in fundraising and leadership roles.
  • Familiarity with fundraising databases.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and team-building abilities.
